Morningside Extension & Refit
This project consisted of a renovation of a 1950s era Queensland house and fitting out the extension with the appropriate doors and windows to create an energy efficient home.
The best solution for the brief was to use thermally efficient u-PVC framed windows with the use of performance Low –e glass on the windows which receive the most sun.
The use of awning windows allows excellent ventilation. Casement windows were used on larger areas, and the direction of the openings were designed to catch the breezes which come in from the west.
The use of u-PVC frames and performance glass allowed larger windows to be used without compromising the thermal efficiency of the home; creating a home filled with natural light that was also thermally efficient.
